BACKGROUND:
Opened to the public since 1982, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum features four operating scale-model railroads of the Southwest, a hands-on Thomas the Tank Engine activity room, an interactive toy train gallery, an a relief map of San Diego County featuring an interactive computer display. At 27,000 square feet, San Diego Model Railroad Museum is the largest model railroad display in the world.
MISSION :
To preserve the heritage of railroading through a series of miniature representations of California railroads; research and preserve the history of model railroading, and educate the public in the many different aspects of railroading.

President's Day Family Celebration

The whole family will enjoy learning about past Presidents and the railcars they used! Children will be mesmerized by the Abe Lincoln storyteller eager to share fun and exciting tales of his life. Snacks, refreshments, and activities will be provided for all ages. Don't miss this exciting and educational family day! Activities included with museum admission.
SERVICES:
The Pacific Beach Club Room, located in the museum, is available for birthday parties, meetings, or any type of get-together. The museum also offers guided tours by a docent well educated on each model train exhibit.

The Museum is located in Balboa Park on the lower level of the Casa de Balboa building.

Saturday / Sunday: 11:00 - 5:00
